Climbing in bolivia, the expedition

The expedition to the Cordillera Real in Bolivia can be considered as the main entrance to the world of high mountains using glaciers techniques.

Therefore we have developed special instructing program for the first stage of our trip. Our Guides will teach our participants how to progress on ice and walk on glaciers, by using different techniques which will be used in our ascents later.

This fist stage is developed in the Condoriri Group, a range of peaks with graceful mountains higher than 5,000 m. Besides the practice of the previous techniques, we will attempt to climb Cerro Pirámide Blanca and Cerro Tarija, both 5,300 m high.

The base camp is set up at 4,500m, on the banks of the Condoriri Lake. This stage will be for acclimatization for the future ascensions.

The second goal of our expedition is Cerro Huayna Potosí, the classic ascent in the Cordillera Real. This 6,088 m high mount with final slopes of 45° rises gracefully from the heart of the mountain range.

This is the end of our first option, but for those who are ready for a major challenge, this expedition offers an extension stage to attempt to ascend the highest mountain in Cordillera Real, Cerro Illimani 6,400 m high, to the south of La Paz.

The expedition duration varies according the options. The first one includes the Group Condoriri and Huayna Potosí, 12- days duration. The second option adds to these ones the ascent to the Mt. Illimani, and it lasts 19 days.
