Confluencia: a step for multiple alternatives

Confluencia (3.390m) is the temporary camp used by all the mountaineers who began their march on the Normal Route either to attempt the summit from the west side, make a trekking to Plaza Francia (4,000 m) or challenge the hard way of the hill: the south wall.

Confluencia invited to stay for its natural and peaceful environment, comfortable temperatures and there you can find all kinds of services: communication, tents, toilets, medical care, mules, food service, etc.

Most expeditions spend two nights in this camp as part of its strategy for acclimatization, during the second day, a trek to the viewpoint of the south wall in Plaza Francia, before beginning the ascent to base camp Plaza de Mulas.

Where is located? To reach the Confluencia starts Horcones Ranger (2.950m), where the Provincial Park entrance on Route 7 to 185km International City of Mendoza. (See map)

How do I access and how long? Presenting the trekking or climbing permit at the ranger station and marched on a well marked trail in the Gorge through Horcones Lagoon trailhead. As we entered the park we see the majestic peaks first painted green, yellow, brown and red. The slope is gentle but sustained and after 4 hours we arrived at Confluencia. It is the meeting place of river valleys Horcones tours Upper and Lower.

Services Available: Drinkable water, ranger station with helipad and free preventive and ongoing medical assistance during the climbing season. Medical professionals also attend emergencies in case of accident or illness and decide high climber evacuation may be by helicopter or mule.
