Secure luggage transfer and time to the base camps

The safe movement of equipment within the Aconcagua Park is a priority in our company. We understand the vital importance of this point and that a delay or loss could undermine the proper conduct of an expedition.

Through 30 years of experience we have optimized our logistics to 100%. Today the process of receiving, transfer and delivery of packages is a well oiled mechanism that allows us to guarantee the arrival of equipment at predetermined place and on schedule to facilitate, in this way, your stay in the mountains.

How do we do?

The transfer of baggage is carried by mule from our base in Penitentes to our campgrounds within the park: Confluencia (3.390m), Plaza de Mulas (4.350m) and Plaza Argentina (4.190m).

We have over 120 mules for the transport of fresh food, luggage and people. Own animals have made us strong in the park because it allows us to move quickly and provisioning on a daily basis to our camps as well as meet all the needs of our customers at competitive costs.

Thanks to good animal care throughout the year (food, vaccination, grazing, etc.) We have strong and sturdy mules which directly affects the safety of equipment. During the climbing season mules must pass through gorges, steep slopes and crossing rivers flowing then excellent condition is mandatory to avoid accidents.

A group of stable carriers working with Grajales Expeditions. They are responsible for loading and unloading of the mules as well as lead them to the destination. In our company the carriers working with a predetermined maximum number of mules in charge.

Logistics

Our base is in the ski resort of Los Penitentes. Upon arriving at our room will be received by our staff. They will advise and assist during the packaging process.

A mule carries 60 kg. total load, so the best way to prepare the charges is in 2 pieces of 30 kg. or 3 bags of 20 kg. each. In our spacious room we have all the materials needed to help pack their bags to stay safe during the hours of hard road by mule to the base camps.

After preparing the charges, the staff weighs and label each individual package with a sticker, numbered, indicating the weight of baggage and the camp to which it is addressed. A portion of the sticker will be delivered to you as proof that your luggage has already been dispatched.

Upon arrival at our base camp, as well as his return to Penitentes at the end of the expedition will be necessary to show the numbered sticker that identifies your luggage. Only then you can remove their belongings.

We also have in our base with a large luggage space for a crèche and a special place for valuables.
