We are the most storied in Aconcagua. Fernando Grajales Expeditions was born in 1976 when the Aconcagua Park was not created yet and there was still no firm providing that services. We were the first company to transport teams of climbers to the base camp of Aconcagua when this mythical mountain had still virgin conserved features and few climbers had climbed it.

Fernando Grajales (1924 - 2004) made climbing his life and after the 50's made history by conquering peaks of America and the rest of the world, shared his valuable experience in the family company. Grajales Expeditions is the pioneer company of the Aconcagua and one of the mountain's most prestigious firms in the world.

The most serious problem affecting the conservation Aconcagua (besides climate change melting glaciers with unprecedented speed) is the lack of commitment by climbers and service companies with waste management.

Although there is a system of control and penalties for violators, in charge of Rangers, the problem becomes evident in the high camps where it is common to find waste of all kinds as well as organic waste which are held for a long time because of the cold and snow.

In Grajales Expeditions we’re working to create environmental awareness and to make the least possible impact on the mountain. Our camp staff is responsible for making proper waste packaging to evacuate the park on a mule. Our guides and porters are committed to the care of cleaning up camps and also to teach our customers the respect for the environment.

Our system of energy production in the base camps (solar panels and wind generators) also contribute to the conservation of the park.

The height and unpredictable weather change are two major difficulties of the Aconcagua. Our expeditions are organized strategically to reduce these variable risks. We have an adequate plan and three-day acclimatization expected to attempt the summit if the weather conditions vary in height. So we expanded the possibilities of the success of an expedition.

Our logistics capabilities allow us to supply on a daily basis to our base camps with fresh, healthy food to achieve an adequate diet for the physical demands. This is possible because our company has own mules for transferring goods and packages to the base camps.

To own mules have allows us to move quickly and within the Provincial Park daily to transport and safely while the equipment you need in the base camps. We have 120 mules and a staff of permanent herdsmen throughout the season.

To make special transport outside the Park we have several vehicles. All our transfers are conducted in private transport, while ensuring punctuality and safety.

We work in the camps with tents MSR or The North Face. Our guides and camp staff provide ongoing advice as to other equipment, health, hydration, etc.

We have a permanent staff of porters committed in the course of each expedition. You can hire previously or at any time before the ascent to move their equipment in the park.

Our base camps are equipped with technology that will allow you to stay connected (satellite phone, internet and radio). Available, for rent, best quality equipment for communication in the mountains: VHF Radios, equipped with a false pack (AA batteries).
